Laughs for Literacy: The Twisted Colleague-Wed Game

On September 28th, The Literacy Alliance will hold its third annual Laughs for Literacy fundraising event, the Twisted Colleague-Wed Game, at Parkview Mirro Center for Research.  Teams of two will compete to find out who knows their colleague better, while non-competitors cheer on their teams.  Afterwards, audience members will be treated to The Hypnotic Comic™ Rusty Z.

Last year, the game was "A Twisted Spelling Bee." The “twist” version involved a team of three with each spelling a letter of the given word.  Nearly two hundred persons attended the spelling bee which was followed by entertainment by a comedian. The event raised more than $28,000 to provide literacy services in Allen County. 

 Mike Landram, executive director, said, “This event raises funds to help us reach more of the 32,000 adults who lack literacy skills and a high school diploma. We are grateful to terrific volunteers and generous sponsors for their support.”

Best Team Name – MedPartners/St. Joseph Hospital (name:  Slightly Better Than Auto Correct)

 Judges were Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, and Don Osika, President and General Manager, WPTA-TV 21 Alive, and Barb Richards, Marketing Director, Embassy Theatre.
